Your role
The role is to act as financial controller for Fidelity’s UK Life Insurance business, managing £40bn of pension assets on behalf of UK based schemes and members. The role involves reporting to FIL Life UK management as well as financial, board and regulatory reporting. The FIL Life entity forms a large part of the FIL Limited Group balance sheet and is highly visible to senior management, the Board and Audit Committee and the regulated status means that strong effective controls must be maintained. The role also involves working with the workplace investing, treasury, tax, risk and compliance teams to support the governance framework for FIL Life.
Supporting the FIL Life Financial Controller and the FIL Life CFO (SMF 2) and the Board of the UK Life company with financial and regulatory matters
Working with Treasury, the FIL Life Financial Controller and the Workplace Investing transitions team in planning the accounting and liquidity impacts of corporate actions.
Preparing monthly financial results for the UK Life Company
Production of statutory report & accounts and regulatory financial returns for the Life Company
Maintaining and implementing the Life Company’s capital management policy including the development of capital assessments under the current regime and Solvency II
Supporting the Actuary ensuring they have access to all information needed to execute their responsibilities
Ensuring completeness and accuracy of the transfer pricing agreements with other group companies
Liaison with the Company’s auditors to drive improvements in the audit process
Overseeing the monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts
Oversight of the Company’s bank accounts and liquidity requirements
Working with the FIL Life Financial Controller to drive a transformation agenda to achieve best in class end to end financial control
Your skills
Qualified accountant with relevant post-qualification experience in the life insurance industry
Highly motivated with ambition to make a significant contribution to building the business
Strong financial reporting knowledge and awareness of current accounting issues
Ability to balance attention to detail, to ensure accurate reporting and reconciliation, and also to see the bigger picture with regard to financial transactions
Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels
Understanding of Solvency II
